On March 3rd 2025, the Energy Council convened 30+ industry representatives ahead of the World Energy Capital Assembly, December 2-3. Together, an expert group of international energy operators, bankers, insurers, technology companies and advisors met to discuss the most pressing challenges and opportunities impacting European, African and Middle Eastern energy today.
The resulting Advisory Board Report is now available for download, featuring strategic commentary from over 30 global energy leaders—including bp, Chevron, Serica Energy, Bank of America (BofA), ExxonMobil, Shell Trading, Carlyle and many more.

The Board identified eight key trends that are defining what the future of energy will look like in 2025, including:
🔹 Gas as the bridge and the battleground
🔹 Carbon management: from compliance to commercialisation
🔹 The Middle East as an emerging as a global investor, not just a producer
🔹 Energy transition rhetoric being replaced by transition realism
At the World Energy Capital Assembly (WECA), December 2-3, we will convene global leaders to examine these challenges and explore how oil and gas companies are balancing energy security, affordability, and sustainability while addressing the financing hurdles of a lower-carbon energy transformation.
